An iconic ‘Super Tuscan’, which began as a table wine and went on to become a legendary wine; its current blend was established in 1982 and has remained unchanged ever since.
Tignanello is carefully vinified with a focus on aroma, colour and elegant tannins, followed by ageing in mainly new French and partly Hungarian oak barrels for over 13 months.
After blending, the wine ages for a further 12 months in the bottle before release.
The blend consists mainly of Sangiovese, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
In the glass, the wine displays an intense ruby red colour with purple hues and aromas of cherries, pomegranate and violets, with balsamic and vanilla notes.
The palate is full-bodied and fresh with supple, savoury tannins and a long, aromatic finish.
