During the second half of the 17th century, the small Ardennes town of Spa developed into a fashionable health resort that was frequented by nobles, diplomats, writers, artists... and clergy. The Capuchins founded a church and a monastery there and laid out an idyllic park to welcome visitors in style. In the monastery, the Capuchin friars selected dozens of aromatic plants, barks and herbs and distilled them into a magnificent liqueur with a delicate aroma and a refined taste.
